Meloq is recruiting master thesis students to aid us in evaluating inertial measurement sensors and how to gain maximum precision from them using software filters/algorithms. The project will include embedded systems development as well as software algorithms for filtering raw sensor data. Some knowledge in electronics is desirable but not required. This project is suitable for 1-2 students.
The aim of the thesis project is to select the most suitable method for angular measurements, given a set of parameters. It is then up to the student to select and compare the different inertial measurement unit sensor solutions there is on the market today. The student shall compare at least 3- and 6-axis sensors but may also compare them to 9-axis sensors. A real time filter/algorithm shall be implemented by the student to do sensor fusion and minimize errors from the hardware, environment etc. The filter/algorithm shall also be usable on all of the sensors that the student have selected and be able to give a clear indication of which sensor that performs better or worse for angular measurements.
